On Thursday 15th of February, Martin ‘Deficio’ Lynge announced that he will become a freelance shoutcaster but will remain at Riot Games part-time.
After a post on Facebook Deficio announced that he will no longer be a full-time employee at Riot Game but will still be casting the EU LCS on a regular basis and doesn’t plan to move onto other games anytime soon. Deficio has been a shoutcaster for just over 4 years now after retiring from coaching the team Ninjas in Pyjamas on January 13th 2014 and being a part of the LCS shoutcaster team on January 14th 2014.
This comes as a bit of a shock in the League of Legends community coming out of the blue however, the community has seemed to have taken it very well wishing Deficio the best in his endeavours. In the statement Deficio says “The move to a freelancer will allow me to work as an independent consultant on a few projects that I feel really passionate about” so hopefully we will be seeing more of Deficio on either more League of Legends content or even other games in the future, either way he will carry his experience and talent anywhere he goes.
