Everyone likes a good underdog story, especially one where the underdog team was a bottom two team in previous splits, I am in fact talking about Team Vitality.
Going into the 2018 Spring split in the EU LCS, Team Vitality had made a few changes to both their coaching staff and their team line up. In the off season they picked up; Erberk “Gilius” Demir, Daniele “Jiizuke” di Mauro, Amadeu “Minitroupax” Carvalho and Jakub “Jactroll” Skurzyński, what happened over the next split would shake the EU LCS.
Currently sitting at seven wins and one loss, the newly formed Vitality squad is picking off each team one by one. Even the likes of H2K and G2, who last season were the top two teams are buckling under the might of this team. Daniele “Jiizuke” di Mauro has been nothing short of amazing in the mid lane, adding more and more clips to his already strong highlight reel.
Erberk “Gilius” Demir is confident and strong worded as ever, stating that people such as Nubar “Maxlore” Sarafian of Mistfits and Andrei “Xerxe” Dragomir of Spylce have let their previous wins go to their heads and after Xerxe tweeted that Gilius needed a reality check he tweeted out that “Only reality check I got from this game is that not a single team in this region is on our level”, now if that doesn’t exude confidence then I don’t know what does.
All in all, if Team Vitality keep doing what they are doing under their Coach Jakob “YamatoCannon” Mebdi, then this underdog team could be a starting to challenge for a Top 3 or even the number one position. Only time will tell.
